Many people are talking about mindfulness these days. The definition I like is from www.merriam-webster.com: “a mental state achieved by focusing one’s awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one’s feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations…” Learning the right way to manage your mind will move you down the path to mindful living.

However, managing your mind is not the same as mindfulness. By managing your mind – observing your thoughts, experimenting with the results you produce and the feelings you feel by thinking certain thoughts, then choosing the direction of your thoughts is a way to achieve a state of mindfulness.

While the basic idea of managing our minds is easy to understand, remembering to do it in the hustle and bustle of everyday life can be hard. We get caught up in what’s going on around us and forget that we can choose how we respond to the things that come at us from our jobs, families, or projects.

If you’d like to earn this process and practice applying it to your life in a lively, caring, supportive community, I offer one-hour weekly group classes. More information is available here.
